2024 THEME: CARIBBEAN VIBES
1) 2-tier Novelty Cake Category
A 2-tier novelty cake decorated with any medium and of your Island's culture. RULES FOR 2 TIER NOVELTY CAKE • Any edible medium may be used to cover and decorate. • Wired sugar flowers and foliage are permitted, but must not penetrate the coating unless a suitable barrier is used. • You must be able to sell your Caribbean Island through your cake, using the Island colours, culture, etc • The shapes of the tiers should be a typical shape and not carved/sculpted cake. (eg round, square, octagon, etc.) • Dummies/styrofoam are permitted but all tiers must be treated as a real cake. • If using dummies/styrofoam, you MUST have a real cake or mini cakes that judges and guests can get the opportunity to taste. • Entry must be exactly 2 tiers. • “Spacer tiers” are NOT accepted (eg lighted tiers, pillars,etc) . • Display drapes and other element must be contained in the permitted area. • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x 30cm (12inx12in) space. • If using a cake board, they should be covered and ribbon is permitted on cake drums only. • All elements of the entry must be contained within the given dimension specified in the category. • The judges reserve the right to remove or disqualify any entry they feel is violating the rules or is not to the required standards. • Competitors may not enter a display that has been previously entered in another competition and risk being disqualified if they do so. • The display must be solely the work of the person(s) on the entry form. • The organizers have the right to use photographs taken of competitor’s displays for commercial purposes. |
2) Caribbean Island Celebration Cake Category A single tiered cake covered with any edible medium. Choose a celebration that your Island celebrates. RULES FOR THE CELEBRATION CAKE CATEGORY • Dummy/styrofoam is permitted. • If using dummies/styrofoam, you MUST have a real cake or mini cakes that judges and guests can get the opportunity to taste. • Only single tiered cake decorated in any chosen edible medium. • Cake should be regular in shape and in no way should be carved or sculpted. • Chosen occasion must be visibly obvious and clear. • You must use your island's colours, etc • Cake entry must have an edible inscription with a minimum of ten letters/ numbers indicating the occasion. (eg celebrating a legend in your Island birthday, Independence Day, crop over Festival, etc.) • Wired sugar flowers and foliage are permitted. • Height restriction is up to 38cm (15in) only. • The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x 30cm (12in x12in) space. • Main base board should be well covered with any edible medium. Keep in mind that the board/base design is also part of the overall judging criteria. • Back board is NOT permitted. • If using a cake board, it should be covered and ribbon is permitted on cake drums only. • All elements of the entry must be contained within the given dimension specified in the category. • The judges reserve the right to remove or disqualify any entry they feel is violating the rules or is not to the required standards. • Competitors may not enter a display that has been previously entered in another competition and risk being disqualified if they do so. • The display must be solely the work of the person(s) on the entry form. • The organizers have the right to use photographs taken of competitor’s displays for commercial purposes. |
4) TIER WEDDING CAKE CATEGORY Three or more tiers with the style and medium of your choice remaining in the theme. RULES FOR TIER WEDDING CAKE CATEGORY • Any edible medium may be used to cover and decorate. • Wired sugar flowers and foliage are permitted, but must not penetrate the coating unless a suitable barrier is used. • You must be able to sell your Caribbean Island through your cake, using the Island colours, culture, etc • The shapes of the tiers should be a typical shape and not carved/sculpted cake. (eg round, square, octagon, etc.) • Dummies/styrofoam are permitted but all tiers must be treated as a real cake. • No less that 3 tiers. • If using dummies/styrofoam, you MUST have a real cake or mini cakes that judges and guests can get the opportunity to taste. • “Spacer tiers” are accepted (eg lighted tiers, pillars,etc) but these do not count to the actual number of tiers. • Display drapes and other element must be contained in the permitted area. • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 48cm x48cm (18” x18”) space. • If using a cake board, they should be covered and ribbon is permitted on cake drums only. • All elements of the entry must be contained within the given dimension specified in the category. • The judges reserve the right to remove or disqualify any entry they feel is violating the rules or is not to the required standards. • Competitors may not enter a display that has been previously entered in another competition and risk being disqualified if they do so. • The display must be solely the work of the person(s) on the entry form. • The organizers have the right to use photographs taken of competitor’s displays for commercial purposes. 5) 100% Buttercream Cake Category A two-tiered cake decorated in any type of buttercream making sure to remain in your theme. RULES FOR BUTTERCREAM CAKE CATEGORY • Any type of buttercream or frosting may be used to cover and decorate the cake. (eg american buttercream, swiss/italian meringue bc, french bc, etc). Whipped Cream or any different brands of frostings are allowed to use. • You must be able to sell your Caribbean Island through your cake, using the island colours, culture, etc • Dummies/styrofoam are permitted but all tiers must be treated as a real cake. • If using dummies/styrofoam, you MUST have a real cake or mini cakes that judges and guests can get the opportunity to taste. • You must use exactly 2 tiers for your cake entry only, no more, no less. Size of tiers are regardless. • The shapes of the tiers should be a typical shape and not carved/sculpted cake. (eg round, square, octagon, etc.) • “Spacer tiers” are NOT accepted (eg lighted tiers, pillars,etc). • No height restrictions. 3) Hyper-realistic Cake Category An impressive cake made to look like any object. Choose something that represent your Island's Culture. What ever you choose it should look so real that you can't tell it's a cake! RULES FOR HYPER REALISTIC CAKES • It has to be real cake, carved and covered in any suitable edible medium. • Rice krispies treats may be used only when absolutely necessary. • You must be able to sell your Caribbean Island through your cake, using the Island colours, culture, etc • The cake and all decorations must be edible and internal supports /armature are permitted but must be properly covered. • Styrofoam/dummies are NOT permitted. • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x 30cm (12in x12in) space. • The cake MUST resemble a real object – where size, color, texture, proportion, etc. must be replicated as well. • The Competitor must bring the object being replicated if possible. If not, a clear picture must be printed, framed and placed next to the entry. • If using a cake board, it should be covered and ribbon is permitted on cake drums only. • All elements of the entry must be contained within the given dimension specified in the category. • The judges reserve the right to remove or disqualify any entry they feel is violating the rules or is not to the required standards. • Competitors may not enter a display that has been previously entered in another competition and risk being disqualified if they do so. • The display must be solely the work of the person(s) on the entry form. • The organizers have the right to use photographs taken of competitor’s displays for commercial purposes. 6) Sculpted Cake Category A carved 100 % cake covered in any suitable edible medium. RULES FOR SCULPTED CAKE CATEGORY • It has to be REAL cake, carved and covered in any suitable edible medium. • Rice krispies treats may be used only when absolutely necessary. • The cake and all decorations must be edible and internal supports /armature are permitted but must be properly covered. • Styrofoam/dummies are NOT permitted. • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 60cm x 60cm (24in x24in) space. • If using a cake board, they should be covered and ribbon is permitted on cake drums only. • All elements of the entry must be contained within the given dimension specified in the category. • The judges reserve the right to remove or disqualify any entry they feel is violating the rules or is not to the required standards. • Competitors may not enter a display that has been previously entered in another competition and risk being disqualified if they do so. • The display must be solely the work of the person(s) on the entry form. • The organizers have the right to use photographs taken of competitor’s displays for commercial purposes.here to edit. |
