- Scholarship Initiative: A cornerstone of our work, the CBA Youth Scholarship Initiative funds training and educational opportunities for aspiring young bakers, ensuring that our legacy is not only about celebrating excellence today but also investing in tomorrow’s culinary leaders.
Program Objectives
- Access to Education: Provide scholarships that cover tuition, training fees, and essential learning materials.
- Skill Development: Support youth in gaining technical skills through certified programs, workshops, and apprenticeships.
- Mentorship & Guidance: Connect scholarship recipients with award-winning bakers and pastry artisans for professional growth.
- Entrepreneurship Pathways: Encourage youth to develop entrepreneurial mindsets and create opportunities within the culinary sector.
- Cultural Pride: Preserve and elevate Caribbean baking traditions while inspiring innovation in the craft.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be between 16–25 years old.
- Demonstrate a passion for baking or pastry arts.
- Be enrolled (or seeking enrollment) in a culinary program, vocational school, or apprenticeship.
- Reside in the Caribbean region.
- Show financial need and/or limited access to formal training opportunities.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients will receive:
- Tuition Assistance for culinary schools, training institutions, or certified courses.
- Starter Kits (basic baking tools, uniforms, or ingredients packages).
- Mentorship from established Caribbean Baking Awards winners and nominees.
- Networking Opportunities at CBA events, expos, and competitions.
- Entrepreneurship Support, including access to workshops on business planning, branding, and food safety.
Application Process
- Application Form – Completed application with personal statement (500 words on “Why Baking Inspires Me”).
- Portfolio Submission – Photos or descriptions of personal baking projects (optional for beginners).
- Recommendation Letter – From a teacher, mentor, or community leader.
- Interview Round – Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed by CBA’s selection committee.
Selection Criteria
- Passion and commitment to the baking/pastry field.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Potential for long-term contribution to the Caribbean culinary industry.
- Creativity, innovation, and cultural connection in their work.
